Classic Macaroni and Cheese Recipes:

- 1 pound elbow macaroni

- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter

- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

- 4 cups whole milk

- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

- 1/2 teaspoon paprika

- 1 teaspoon salt

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

- 4 cups shredded cheddar cheese


Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

2. Cook the macaroni according to the package directions, drain and set aside.

3. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

4. Whisk in the flour until smooth and cook for 2-3 minutes.

5. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth.

6. Add the ground mustard, cayenne pepper, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

7. Cook the sauce, whisking frequently, for about 10-12 minutes, until thickened.

8. Add the cheese and stir until it is melted and smooth.

9. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir to combine.

10. Pour the macaroni and cheese into a 9x13-inch baking dish.

11. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
