🌶️ Classic Chili Con Carne Recipe (4–6 servings)


 🔥 Learn how to cook authentic Chili Con Carne—aromatic spices, tender meat, and beans come together in this timeless comfort food dish.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp vegetable oil

1 large onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or mixed beef/pork)

2 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

1 red bell pepper, chopped

1 green bell pepper, chopped

1 can (400 g / 14 oz) chopped tomatoes

2 tbsp tomato paste

1 can (400 g / 14 oz) red kidney beans, drained and rinsed

200 ml (¾ cup) beef stock or water

1 tsp sugar (to balance acidity)

Salt and black pepper, to taste

Fresh coriander or parsley, for garnishing


Instructions:

1. Sauté aromatics
Heat oil in a large pot. Add onion and garlic, cook until soft and golden.

2. Brown the meat
Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned.

3. Add spices
Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne. Let it cook for 1–2 minutes to release flavors.

4. Add vegetables
Mix in chopped peppers. Cook for 5 minutes until slightly softened.

5. Simmer with liquids
Add canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef stock. Stir well.

6. Add beans & season
Stir in kidney beans, sugar, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 30–40 minutes (stirring occasionally) until thick and rich.

7. Taste & adjust
Add more chili powder or salt if needed.

8. Serve
Garnish with coriander/parsley. Serve with rice, tortilla chips, or crusty bread.
