What is French Toast. 

 French toast, also known as eggy bread or pain perdu in French, is a breakfast dish made by dipping sliced bread in a mixture of beaten eggs, milk, and cinnamon, and then frying it in butter until it becomes golden brown. 

It is typically served with syrup, powdered sugar, fruit, or whipped cream on top. French toast is a popular breakfast dish all around the world and is enjoyed by many people.

Here are two French Toast recipes to try this morning.


Recipe 1: Classic French Toast

Ingredients:

- 6 slices of bread

- 2 large eggs

- 2 tablespoons milk

- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1-2 tablespoons butter for cooking

- Powdered sugar and maple syrup for serving, if desired


Instructions:


1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.

2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

3. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the skillet.

4. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides well.

5. Place the bread in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

6. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

7. Serve hot with powdered sugar and maple syrup, if desired.


Recipe 2: Stuffed French Toast

Ingredients:

- 6 thick slices of bread

- 2 large eggs

- 1/2 cup milk

- 1/4 cup cream cheese

- 1/4 cup strawberry jam

- 2 tablespoons butter for cooking

- Powdered sugar and whipped cream for serving, if desired


Instructions:


1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

2. Using a sharp knife, carefully cut a pocket in each slice of bread.

3. In a small bowl, mix together the cream cheese and strawberry jam.

4. Fill each pocket with the cream cheese mixture.

5. Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides well.

6. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

7. Melt a tablespoon of butter in the skillet.

8. Place the stuffed bread in the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.

9. Repeat with the remaining slices of bread, adding more butter to the skillet as needed.

10. Serve hot with powdered sugar and whipped cream, if desired.
